People in the hip-hop nation are wondering if the Grammy Awards are snubbing hip-hop.
At Sunday night's display, the one hip-hop award that was broadcast in the course of the display was Most effective Rap/Sung Effort, which Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna won. A common hip-hop act to carry out was the finale of Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem performing “Drop the World” and “Forever” — and even with that coveted spot, the overall performance was mired in controversy due to network's overzealous muting of the song's lyrics. There was no second in the spotlight for Eminem's two wins; no show-stopping performances like last year's “Swagga Like Us” tag-team of Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne and Kanye West with M.I.A., which killed it collectively and individually.
“CBS Won't CARE ABOUT RAP Men and women!” fumed radio/blog and tv personality Miss Info on her Twitter page.
“Looks like none of the hip-hop groups makin' it to TV,” DJ Drama tweeted midway by means of the telecast.
“So ideal comedy album gets aired but not hip hop?? #BoycottGrammys” Q-Tip explained on Twitter.
“I don't imagine there was very much balance this 12 months at these awards,” Wale tweeted. “Just my opinion.”
Do you think people are more than-reeacting?
“I was a bit astonished that they didn't permit Eminem appear up and give a speech for Finest Rap Album,” Rolling Stone on the net editor Caryn Ganz said. “He's such a titan inside field. I felt they need to have given him a second of shine. Professionally, I consider it was a slight — they have to have done Finest Rap Album — but they were being stretching .
