People in the hip-hop nation are wondering if the Grammy Awards are snubbing hip-hop.

At Sunday night's display, the one hip-hop award that was broadcast in the course of the display was Most effective Rap/Sung Effort, which Jay-Z, Kanye West and Rihanna won. A common hip-hop act to carry out was the finale of Lil Wayne, Drake and Eminem performing “Drop the World” and “Forever” — and even with that coveted spot, the overall performance was mired in controversy due to network's overzealous muting of the song's lyrics. There was no second in the spotlight for Eminem's two wins; no show-stopping performances like last year's “Swagga Like Us” tag-team of Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne and Kanye West with M.I.A., which killed it collectively and individually.

“CBS Won't CARE ABOUT RAP Men and women!” fumed radio/blog and tv personality Miss Info on her Twitter page.

“Looks like none of the hip-hop groups makin' it to TV,” DJ Drama tweeted midway by means of the telecast.

“So ideal comedy album gets aired but not hip hop?? #BoycottGrammys” Q-Tip explained on Twitter.

“I don't imagine there was very much balance this 12 months at these awards,” Wale tweeted. “Just my opinion.”

Do you think people are more than-reeacting?

“I was a bit astonished that they didn't permit Eminem appear up and give a speech for Finest Rap Album,” Rolling Stone on the net editor Caryn Ganz said. “He's such a titan inside field. I felt they need to have given him a second of shine. Professionally, I consider it was a slight — they have to have done Finest Rap Album — but they were being stretching .

Resident Barack Obama delivered his first State of the Union address on wednesday night ( Jan. Twenty-seven ) and some of the brightest ( and most loved ) minds in the hip hop community were ready to give their two cents on the speech. Most of the commentary was in harmony that Obama genuinely strove to strike a balance in the middle of the political range by once again emphasizing the requirement for bipartisanship.

Russell Simmons, hip hop mogul and owner / political director of global Grind, was one of the most vocal commentators on the speech as he participated in a live discuss on his web site and updated his well-liked Twitter account. “Good speech,” he wrote on Twitter. “Stood up powerful. Some controversial subjects … Even talked about gay rights. 'We don't give up. I don't quit.' What a line — middle of the road speech — he is attempting to bring folks together.”

The “We don't quit” line was a kind of big hit all around, and The Roots' Questlove struck a solid parallel with Mos Def as he attributed the line ( or spirit therein ) to the boogie Man in the mid 90s. “We don't quit,” relayed Questo. “I don't quit.' — Mos Def 1996, Barack Obama 2010.”
Jean Grae joined in on the commentary with some of her trademark funny quick-take satire. Grae started by taking it upon herself to translate the meaning behind the State of Union speech. “Let's try some f—— common sense … Yeah … Novel idea.” ( He ain't say “f——” ) LMAO …” she tweeted during Obama's speech. “If Joe Biden could just place his teeth over Nancy's face … It would only be half as distracting.”

“I don't share my political views,” Grae cleared up, before tweeting further. “I just entertain Republican translation?” She then went on to translate the Republican's reply to the State of the Union given by Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell. “Good evening … I am a c—. I have kids. They are wack. Turn page,' she tweeted. Her interpretation of the Republicans attack on unemployment? “Hey man. Folk not working? NOT COOL. I wanna get folk roles. Roles would be better.' We hear ya, Jean.

Since the recent fire from DJ Bless, and Never So Deep was sent over to us, I’ve been checking for homie, and was happy to see this new single in my inbox. Fortunately the track did not disappoint.
